Welcome to Leading Sustainable Conversations
I'm Ken Homer, and I 've chosen to focus my work on conversation because, if we can't talk productively with each other, we're not going to be very successful in cleaning up the messes we're in so we can pass along a healthy world to our children and grandchildren.
Sustainable Conversations:
- Involve people - they are inclusive of all stakeholders, whether there are two people or 2,000.
- Are strength-based - they connect people through what they care about and what they already do well.
- Are personal - they address issues directly relevant to those involved.
- Are productive - they lead to better decisions with higher engagement and follow through.
- Are low tech - they bring people together in informal face-to-face settings to talk, be heard, share ideas and build relationships.
- Are high tech - they use technology to connect people in remote locations, support ongoing engagement, deepen reflection, and enhance follow up, tracking and group learning.
The challenges of our age are pretty daunting. Leading Sustainable Conversations explores some conversational frameworks, methods and models, that can foster the kinds of relationships we need, to speak and listen together about things we may see very differently, discover the images that can move us to inspired action, and then make those actions practical, effective and sustainable.
I hope you enjoy your visit.
