My Areas of Competence

My expertise is in coaching individuals, and designing and facilitating small and large group processes that help people to communicate more effectively, so they can better define, explore and achieve their desired outcomes. I have worked over the years developing competence in these areas with individuals, small groups, and teams, as well in large group (over 50 people) settings. Here is some grounding for my claims of competence:

• Ten years as a core team member contributing to the development of the the World Café dialogue process.

• Participating in the design, hosting and delivery of numerous conferences where the World Café was used in plenary and forum sessions. These include: Pegasus Communications Systems Thinking in Action, The Institute of Noetic Sciences, The Organizational Development Network, and Business for Social Responsibility.

• Co-authorship of the chapter on the World Café for the Second Edition of The Change Handbook, 2007, Berrett-Koehler.

• Certification as an Integral Coach through New Ventures West, piloting of their Graduate Department, and serving as adjunct faculty for their year long Professional Coaching Course.

• Dialogue Leader for the RockRose Institute’s World Forum Facing Violence: Justice, Religion, and Conflict Resolution.

• Consulting to the Youth Dialogue Project of The RockRose Institute.

• Design and delivery of the “Faith Leaders Forum” for the Center for Interfaith Relations, which engaged 100 ordained faith leaders from diverse tractions in conversation around the role of clergy in shaping a better future for Louisville, KY.

• Consulting to senior leaders on a large scale (6000 people) change initiative within the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services to shift from a culture of intervention to a culture of prevention.

• Consulting to senior leaders within the UC Santa Cruz Administration and Information Technology departments to successfully navigate the task of consolidating 24 separate IT departments into a single entity serving the needs of the entire University.

• Presenter at both the 2004 and 2006 National Coalition on Dialogue and Deliberation Conferences.
